Globalization & Labor Standards

About the Globalization and Labor Standards Project

The Globalization and Labor Standards (GALS) Project at UCLA Law is a multi-faceted project on international, transnational and comparative labor issues. The cornerstone of the venture is an easily searchable database of law review articles that have appeared in journals around the world. The database contains articles dating back to 1999. Each entry is accompanied by a clear and concise abstract that summarizes the content of the article in a few sentences. GALS also organizes international conferences, hosts a speaker series and publishes a monthly newsletter. Professor Katherine Stone and UCLA law students create the abstracts and update the collection monthly. All articles contain hyperlinks to full text. The GALS database serves lawyers, scholars, governments, businesses, labor unions, non-government organizations, the World Bank, the Library of Congress and numerous other institutions from more than 140 countries worldwide. Law school faculty members from around the globe contribute to the Project.
